We developing 10 minutes rapid test for detecting of IgM / IgG antibodies against SARS-COV-2 in the blood.
Hello! We are a team of DRD Biotech, we are developing IVD diagnostic test systems at the Innovation Center, Moscow, Russia. We have been working for many years to create diagnostic tests for Stroke and concussion, last year we successfully launched our first product on the Russian market.
About the project
Global Challenge
In 2020, the world faced a global health threat - SARS-CoV-2 Coronavirus, with more than 1,500,000 infected. The virus is transmitted through breathing; its spread is very high. About 100 thousand people have become victims of the disease!

We believe that the main problem is the lack of a quick diagnosis / screening of the patient, which affects the speed of treatment initiation.

Countries close their borders, everything stops. Ahead is total quarantine, which will inevitably lead to serious losses in the global economy.

We cannot stand aside and are actively looking for opportunities to help in the fight against coronavirus. Our team decided to create, using its expertise, an affordable and quick method for diagnosing coronavirus.
Development
We are currently developing an rapid test, which allows, from a small drop of blood determine the presence of IgM and IgG antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus in 10 minutes. The test can be done anywhere and without special equipment.

Our test will allow you to quickly and cheaply determine the presence of coronavirus in patients and quickly begin their treatment, which will undoubtedly improve the epidemiological situation in Russia and the world.
Technology
To create an rapid test for coronavirus, we use the lateral flow technology - immunochromatographic tests. Their principle of operation is similar, for example, to a pregnancy test.
A key part of the test is the detection reagent, it contains gold nanoparticles conjugated with specific recombinant antigens to SARS-CoV-2. Figuratively speaking, we have a magnet with which we bind the specific antibodies in the patient's blood sample.
Differences from existing methods
The existing diagnostic standard - PCR test (RT-PCR) - works great, but with limitations.

Firstly, it can only be carried out in a certified laboratory, with expensive equipment and trained personnel.

Secondly, the test assumes the presence of a certain amount of false negative results.

These factors make it impossible to quickly and easily mass screen patients.

Unlike existing diagnostic methods, our rapid test:
  • Detects the presence in the blood of antibodies to the SARS-CoV-2
  • Diagnostic time - 10 minutes
  • Anywhere and without special equipment
It was shown that after infection with the virus, IgM antibodies are detected in the blood of patients on days 3-6, and IgG is detected after 8 days. In addition to emergency diagnosis, the test allows you to evaluate the course of the disease. Thus, the presence of a rapid antibody test SARS – COV – 2 adds great value in the diagnosis and treatment of coronovirus. The test will probably be used in hospitals, laboratories, offices, schools, airports, railway stations, etc., which will help in the fight against the global threat.
